| The Real Face Of Low-Impact Tourism By Dave Wilson June 25, 2003 Congressman Wayne Gilchrest joined the Snow Hill Mayor and City Council at
the River Heritage celebration in Snow Hill this June to establish the first
ever Kathy Fisher Award to honor individuals who have "significantly
contributed to discovering, interpreting, and sharing truths" about local
culture and heritage. The award was established as part of the town's
mission to revitalize culture and heritage tourism in Snow Hill. Fisher, 59,
began and organized the Snow Hill Heritage celebration, Pocomoke River Canoe
Challenge, jousting tournament, and Holiday Dinner Tour. The former teacher
helped establish the Lower Eastern Shore Heritage Committee, Beach-to-Bay
Indian Trail, and has volunteered at the Nature Conservancy's Furnace Town
for the past 17 years.
